New Delhi, June 2
The Central government has transferred CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh and Secretary Himanshu Gupta following allegations of irregularities in the digital evaluation system used for Class 12 examinations, officials said on Tuesday. The decision comes amid growing concerns from students and parents about the On-Screen Marking system and how it functions.
According to officials, the Central Board of Secondary Education has been under scrutiny after several Class 12 students claimed that scanned copies of their answer sheets uploaded through the On-Screen Marking system did not match their original handwriting. These concerns triggered questions over the accuracy and reliability of the digital evaluation process.
The issue also sparked broader criticism of the system’s implementation, with students and parents raising concerns about transparency in the examination and evaluation process. In addition to the alleged mismatch concerns, the board has faced complaints related to technical glitches, payment failures, and delays in verification and re-evaluation procedures.
Officials said these repeated issues have added to demands for stronger accountability and greater transparency in the functioning of the CBSE examination system. The latest administrative move comes at a time when the board is already facing heightened public and institutional pressure over its digital evaluation framework.
The transfer of senior CBSE officials is being seen as a significant administrative response to ongoing concerns surrounding the examination system. Further decisions on reforms or corrective measures in the evaluation process are expected as scrutiny over the system continues.
