‘Vande Mataram’ completes 150 years, HP Police band takes patriotic message across state

Marking 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’, the Himachal Pradesh Police has launched a special awareness campaign across the state, with its brass band travelling to district headquarters and performing the national song to highlight its historical and national significance.

As part of the campaign, the police brass band has been visiting different districts and presenting ‘Vande Mataram’ through musical performances. The initiative aims to familiarise people with the history of the national song and strengthen patriotic sentiments among the public.

The band was welcomed in Kangra district, where Superintendent of Police Kulbhushan Verma said the journey began from Shimla and would cover various districts across Himachal Pradesh.

Verma said the band was performing and singing ‘Vande Mataram’ to spread awareness among people about its historical and national importance.

Vande Mataram is not merely a song but an important symbol of patriotism and national sentiment,” the SP said, adding that the campaign seeks to remind people of the role the song played during the country’s historical period and the spirit with which it was sung.

He said the police brass band would continue its journey across the state and visit other districts and towns in the coming days.

The campaign aims to convey the message and significance of ‘Vande Mataram’ to a wider section of society through music and public engagement.
