Bhopal, May 26

A team of the Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday visited the Bhopal residence of retired judge Giribala Singh as part of its ongoing investigation into the death of former model and actor Twisha Sharma. Officials said the team, which included women personnel, met family members at the Katara Hills residence before later proceeding to the Army Cantonment Kurukshetra Mess in Shahjehanabad to interact with Twisha’s family.

The CBI officially took over the investigation on Monday and registered an FIR against Twisha’s husband, Samarth Singh, and mother-in-law Giribala Singh. The agency invoked charges related to dowry death, cruelty by husband or relatives, and common intention under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with provisions of the Dowry Prohibition Act. Officials said a Special Crime Unit was sent to Bhopal to collect documents and other evidence connected to the case.

Twisha Sharma, a former Miss Pune, was allegedly found hanging at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12. Her family accused the in-laws of dowry harassment, mental torture, and domestic violence, alleging that she was driven to take the extreme step. The FIR in the case was initially registered by Bhopal Police two days after her death and was later re-registered by the CBI as part of the central investigation.

Meanwhile, Samarth Singh was arrested in Jabalpur after remaining absconding for nearly 10 days. A Bhopal court later remanded him to police custody for 7 days. In several media interactions, Giribala Singh questioned Twisha’s medical treatment and mental condition.

Following directions from the Madhya Pradesh High Court, a team of doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi, conducted a second postmortem examination on Sunday after Twisha’s parents raised concerns over alleged procedural lapses during the initial investigation. Officials said further investigation into the case is underway.
