The BJP will organise marches at four locations across Himachal Pradesh under the slogan “Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy”, with the first scheduled in Dharamshala on October 30, BJP MLA and former Assembly Speaker Vipin Singh Parmar said. The subsequent marches will take place in Shimla on November 1 and Mandi and Hamirpur on November 4.
Parmar said the campaign aimed to expose what the BJP described as Congress’s alleged double standards. He accused Congress of questioning electronic voting machines (EVMs) after electoral defeats and criticising constitutional institutions, including the Election Commission and the Supreme Court.
Backing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Parmar said the exercise has been conducted periodically since Independence to update voter lists.
He said Form 6 was used to register new voters, while Form 7 was used to seek removal of names from electoral rolls. He added that booth-level agents representing political parties could participate in the process.
Parmar claimed that electoral roll revisions had identified cases involving absent, shifted, deceased and duplicate voters. He also accused Congress and its allies of taking questionable positions on illegal immigration and alleged bogus voting.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Parmar cited progress in education, science, space, employment, self-employment and infrastructure. He also condemned alleged derogatory remarks about the Prime Minister’s parents and demanded an apology from Congress, stressing the need for dignity in political discourse.
