Bansi Lal’s Family Prepares for Political Showdown

The family of former Chief Minister Bansi Lal commemorated his birth anniversary with separate public meetings in his home constituency of Tosham and his native village of Golagarh, The Tribune reported.

In Tosham, Kiran Choudhry, Bansi Lal’s daughter-in-law, and her daughter, Shruti Choudhry, hosted a public gathering attended by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. Meanwhile, Bansi Lal’s elder son, Ranbir Mahendra, a former Congress MLA, and his son, Anirudh Chaudhry, organized a supporters’ meeting in Golagarh, according to The Tribune.

These gatherings highlighted the growing rift within the family as both factions prepare for a direct contest to inherit Bansi Lal’s political legacy in the upcoming Assembly elections. Shruti Choudhry is vying for a BJP nomination from Tosham, while Anirudh Chaudhry has applied for the Congress ticket for the same constituency.

In her address, Kiran Choudhry, recently nominated for the Rajya Sabha by the BJP, recounted the challenges she faced within the Congress after her husband Surender Singh’s death in 2005. She criticized the previous administration for neglecting the Bhiwani region and expressed relief at joining the BJP, praising its merit-based approach to employment.

Kiran Choudhry also advocated for her daughter, Shruti, to receive the BJP nomination, emphasizing her potential to uphold Bansi Lal’s political legacy.

Conversely, Anirudh Chaudhry, speaking in Golagarh, confirmed his application for the Congress ticket from Tosham, underscoring the constituency’s significance as his grandfather’s home base. He acknowledged the impending contest with his cousin Shruti and appealed for mutual respect amidst the political rivalry. Anirudh expressed confidence in his grandfather’s loyal supporters standing by him.
