Pune, May 30
The armed forces are fully prepared to launch ‘Operation Sindoor 2.0’ if circumstances require it, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi said on Saturday. He emphasized that the Army, Navy, and Air Force are strengthening their coordination and operational synergy to effectively address the demands of modern multi-domain warfare, which now extends beyond traditional land, air, and maritime domains.
He also said that Operation Sindoor set a benchmark for how India responds to provocation, describing it as an example of national resolve expressed with precision and determination. Addressing cadets at the passing-out parade of the National Defence Academy’s (NDA) 150th course in Khadakwasla , Gen Dwivedi said the security challenges facing today’s military officers were becoming increasingly complex. He further said, “The world you are stepping into does not pause for introductions,” he told the graduating cadets, adding that threats no longer arrive only through conventional military fronts. “From contested grey zones to high-velocity hybrid warfare, today’s security environment demands that those who serve must think sharply as they act,”.
“As our defence services deepen their integrated structures, remember, irrespective of the uniform we wear next, you will serve shoulder to shoulder again — both men and women,” he said.
Calling the ceremony a personal milestone, the army chief recalled graduating from the same academy more than four decades ago.
“Today, as I stand before you at the far end of a life in uniform, preparing to doff mine as you prepare to don yours, I can tell you with certainty: what you begin here endures forever,” he said.
He congratulated the cadets on their performance during the parade and praised Cheetah Squadron for winning the championship banner.
Gen Dwivedi also acknowledged the contribution of 24 international cadets from 12 countries graduating alongside their Indian counterparts.
“You came from different soils, but you leave shaped by the same ground and the same values,” he said.
