Ministry of Rural Development has set a target to make villages poverty-free by 2025, with no unemployment and fulfilling minimum daily needs for rural populations, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced. Speaking after a meeting with state Rural Development Ministers in New Delhi, Chouhan emphasized the importance of addressing rural development to achieve a fully developed India by 2047, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Without the development of rural India, a developed India cannot become true,” Chouhan said, underlining that the Centre’s success is intertwined with the active participation of state governments. He also called for an inclusive approach to change the lives of rural people, framing the rural development schemes as more than just programs but as a “campaign” for transformation.
Key actions proposed for rural upliftment include setting time-bound targets for schemes, addressing regional disparities, and utilizing advanced IT solutions to streamline implementation. The Minister also stressed the need for better coordination among various ministries and their welfare schemes, while ensuring stakeholders are informed of their rights and resources are maximized.
