President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Indian-American entrepreneur and venture capitalist Sriram Krishnan as the Senior White House Policy Advisor on Artificial Intelligence (AI). The announcement was made through social media platforms. Trump wrote in his post on the social media platform, “Sriram Krishnan will serve as Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Working closely with David Sacks, Sriram will focus on ensuring continued American leadership in AI and help shape and coordinate AI policy across the government, including collaborating with the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.”
Sriram Krishnan, who began his career as a founding member of Microsoft’s Windows Azure team, expressed his gratitude in a reply to Trump’s post. “I’m honored to serve our country and ensure continued American leadership in AI, working closely with @DavidSacks. Thank you, @realDonaldTrump, for this opportunity,” he wrote. Krishnan’s appointment highlights the incoming administration’s focus on AI innovation and policy development to maintain the United States’ global leadership in the field.
