Gurdaspur grenade attack: ‘3 Khalistani terrorists killed in UP encounter’

Three members of the Pakistan-sponsored Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) terror module, accused of a grenade attack in Punjab’s Gurdaspur, were reportedly killed in a joint operation by Uttar Pradesh and Punjab police, according to media reports quoting a news agency. However, Punjab Police issued a statement at 9:12 am stating that the suspects were injured during the operation and had been taken to a hospital for treatment.

The encounter occurred in the Puranpur area of Pilibhit district, involving teams from the Uttar Pradesh and Punjab police.  The suspects, identified as Gurvinder Singh (25), Virender Singh alias Ravi (23), and Jaspreet Singh alias Paetap Singh (18), were residents of Gurdaspur, Punjab.

In an official statement, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav termed the operation a “major breakthrough” against the KZF. “This terror module is linked to grenade attacks on police establishments in Punjab’s border areas. They opened fire on the police team during the operation,” he said.

The injured were rushed to CHC Puranpur for medical treatment, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the network’s full extent. Police recovered two AK rifles and two Glock pistols from the scene, the DGP said. Further details about their condition and the ongoing investigation are awaited.
