Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday spoke to two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs, Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, who were injured during a scuffle on Parliament premises. The Prime Minister reassured the MPs, telling them not to worry and that they would recover soon. Sarangi, 69, suffered an injury on the left temple of his forehead and was taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for treatment. Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Pralhad Joshi later visited him at the hospital.

The confrontation occurred on Thursday, with both BJP and Congress accusing each other’s MPs of assault during protests related to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. BJP claimed that Sarangi was injured when Rahul Gandhi allegedly pushed another MP, causing the fall. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju briefed Modi about the incident, criticizing Gandhi for his conduct.

Gandhi denied the accusations, stating, “This might be on your camera. I was trying to enter Parliament when BJP MPs attempted to block, push, and threaten me. This happened, but we do not get affected by jostling. We have the right to enter, and the BJP is attacking the Constitution and insulting Ambedkar’s memory.”

Meanwhile, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge also claimed he was assaulted as he and other MPs arrived at Parliament’s Makar Dwar.
