Sanjay Malhotra, the current Revenue Secretary, has been appointed the new Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a three-year term. Malhotra, a 1990 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, will succeed Shaktikanta Das, whose term ends on December 10. Malhotra, an engineering graduate in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, also holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Princeton University, USA. He will officially take over from Das, who has held the RBI Governor position since 2018.
