The Supreme Court on Monday asked Punjab farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal to ensure that protests remain peaceful and do not obstruct highways or inconvenience the public. Dallewal, on a fast unto death at the Khanauri border demanding farmers’ rights, was removed from the Punjab-Haryana border on November 26. The court made its remarks while disposing of a habeas corpus petition related to his removal, stressing the need to balance the right to protest with maintaining public order.
Meanwhile, traffic disruptions swept Delhi and Noida as farmers mobilized for the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march toward Parliament. Visuals from the National Capital Region (NCR) showed long vehicle queues, with heavy security deployment and police barricades along key routes. The march is part of ongoing efforts to push for farmer demands in the capital.
