The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has, for the first time, explicitly outlined reasons for denying clearance under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) to organisations seeking foreign funds. The reasons include involvement in anti-development activities, religious conversions, inciting protests with malicious intent, and links to radical organizations, the news outlet The Hindustan Times reported.
The Ministry stated it is releasing “consolidated reasons” following representations from several NGOs seeking clarity on why their FCRA applications were denied. However, the ministry did not identify specific NGOs or outline detailed reasons for individual denials, the news outlet said.
