Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini won the Ladwa assembly seat, defeating Congress candidate Mewa Singh by 16,054 votes. Saini secured 70,177 votes, while Mewa Singh garnered 54,123. Early trends from the Election Commission of India indicate that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to win the Haryana assembly elections for a third consecutive term. The BJP is leading in 50 seats, with Congress ahead in 35, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) in 2, and independents in 3.
Voter turnout for the October 8 election reached 67.9%, up from 64.8% in the last Lok Sabha elections. While rural constituencies saw strong participation, urban areas lagged, reporting turnout rates 10% below the state average.
