Punjab Minister for Investment Promotion, Industry, and Commerce, Tarunpreet Singh Sond, has reaffirmed Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s commitment to ensuring that industrialists face no difficulties while doing business in the state. Sond emphasized that the Chief Minister’s vision is to transform Punjab into a leading state in the industrial sector, making a significant contribution to India’s growing economy. He noted that continuous efforts are being made to streamline government schemes, policies, and programs to make them more industry-friendly.
Sond said that Chief Minister Mann is actively meeting with top industrial groups from India and abroad to attract greater investment into the state. This influx of investment will lead to a higher demand for skilled youth, creating job opportunities that will encourage young people to stay in Punjab instead of seeking employment abroad. “Punjab will rewrite its progress story,” Sond said, pointing to the positive effects of this industrial push on the state’s development.
Speaking at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training and the Tata Steel Foundation, Sond stressed the importance of practical training for securing employment. The partnership focuses on establishing electrical labs and providing soft skill training at ITI Samrala and ITI Gill Road, Ludhiana. This collaboration is expected to help young people gain better job opportunities in industries, including Tata Steel itself.
Sond added that Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) are among the best sources of hands-on knowledge and that this training will enable Punjab’s youth to secure jobs at Tata Steel’s new plant, which is being set up on 115 acres of land in Ludhiana. The plant is expected to provide direct and indirect employment to around 700 individuals.
Sond expressed optimism about renowned companies like Tata playing a crucial role in Punjab’s development, contributing to the state’s industrial growth and providing employment opportunities for the local youth. He remarked that Tata, a household name across India, would be a key player in Punjab’s progress.
The MoU signing event saw the presence of several key figures, including Vivek Pratap Singh, Principal Secretary of the Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training, Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President (Corporate Services) of Tata Steel, Saurav Roy, CEO of Tata Steel Foundation, Captain Amitabh, Head of Skill Development at Tata Steel Foundation, and Vinamra Singh, Resident Executive of Tata Steel, along with other officials.
