The Ludhiana district court received a bomb threat through an email on Wednesday, November 4, prompting concern among the police and security agencies. The message warned of an improvised explosive device (IED) blast inside the court complex on Wednesday afternoon and also threatened attacks on schools.
According to the email, the sender claimed links with Punjab and Khalistan and referred to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, citing revenge as the motive behind the threats. The message also contained political and religious remarks.
Besides the district court and schools, the email mentioned a possible bomb blast during a gathering on November 27.
The threat has raised concerns over security arrangements at public institutions in Ludhiana. The police and concerned agencies are expected to examine the email and verify its contents.
The authenticity of the threat and the identity of the sender have not been established so far.
