The Himachal Pradesh Assembly’s winter session will be held in Dharamshala from December 16 to 21, with the district administration and police preparing security and traffic arrangements for the six-day sitting.
The Kangra Superintendent of Police Kulbhushan Verma said a meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner was held to review preparations. Security, traffic diversions, accommodation for dignitaries and their protection were among the issues discussed.
Additional traffic personnel will be deployed to minimise inconvenience to the public, Verma said. The police will also guide commuters about traffic arrangements during the session.
Arrangements will be made at Jorawar and Dari grounds for people visiting the area to present their demands to the government. Space will be provided there for people to gather and sit, the SP said.
Local residents living near roads leading towards Kaned and Nagrota Bagwan will be verified through their respective panchayat pradhans and issued passes, Verma said.
A main security checkpoint will be set up near Jorawar. Only vehicles carrying valid passes will be allowed to enter through the checkpoint.
Verma said the police department was prepared to maintain security and ensure smooth traffic movement throughout the Assembly session.
