The family of a six-year-old girl, who was allegedly assaulted by an eight-year-old student inside a school in Sector 20, Panchkula, has accused the school administration of negligence, claiming that the child remained unaccounted for nearly two hours before the incident came to light.
The family has raised concerns over the school’s supervision and safety arrangements, questioning how the girl could remain missing for such a long period without the staff noticing.
The girl, a KG student attending a special children’s class at Sanskriti School, was allegedly attacked with a stone and a flowerpot inside the school premises. The accused student also dragged her for some time, leaving her seriously injured.
She was initially taken to the Civil Hospital in Sector 6 and later referred to PGI, Chandigarh, due to her critical condition.
Speaking about the incident, the victim’s uncle, Faisal, alleged that the school administration failed to take timely notice of the girl’s absence for nearly two hours. He questioned the school’s response and demanded accountability from the authorities.
Faisal said the girl’s condition was now improving and demanded justice for the victim and action against those responsible.
Meanwhile, Sector 20 SHO Yashdeep and investigating officer Pradeep Kumar, along with their team, reached the school to investigate the incident. The police are questioning the parents of the eight-year-old student and counselling the child as part of the inquiry.
