Haryana BJP president Dr Archana Gupta said the party had set a three-month target to strengthen its booth-level organisation during the two-day visit of BJP leader Smriti Irani and co-incharge Bhola Singh. Speaking to the media, she said three meetings had been held with state and district leaders to review organisational priorities and plan the next phase of work.
Gupta said the first meeting involved the state president and four general secretaries, the second was attended by state office-bearers, and the third brought together district presidents and district in-charges.
She said the party aimed to form a 11-member committee at every booth and appoint a panna pramukh at each booth within the next three months. State office-bearers and district presidents would visit districts as part of the exercise.
The BJP would also contact senior and long-serving workers and assign responsibilities to ensure wider participation in party activities, Gupta said.
She added that the party would take information about welfare schemes implemented by the Central and state governments over the past 12 years to poor families, youth, women, farmers and other beneficiaries, in line with the principle of Antyodaya.
Targeting the Congress over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, Gupta claimed that the exercise had been conducted seven times before the BJP came to power. She said the party would present its position on the issue before the public.
Gupta also referred to the selection of Jawaharlal Nehru as the first Prime Minister, claiming that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had received greater support. She cited the Allahabad High Court judgment against Indira Gandhi’s election and alleged that her desire to retain power led to the imposition of the Emergency.
She also criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his opposition to the SIR process and his remarks questioning the valour of the armed forces. Gupta alleged that the Congress was spreading misinformation that could contribute to instability.
