80 education officers attend Manali workshop on early childhood learning

Five-day programme focuses on pre-primary education and child development

Manali, September 22

In all, 80 education officers from six districts are attending a five-day state-level workshop in Manali aimed at strengthening pre-primary education and Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) under the Samagra Shiksha and PM SHRI schemes.

The programme, which began on Tuesday and will continue till September 26, is focused on Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) and its implementation at the block level.

The programme, scheduled from September 22 to 26, focuses on strengthening early childhood education at the block level. Sessions cover child development, activity-based learning, the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for the Foundational Stage (NCF-FS), besides initiatives such as Him Vatika, Jadui Pitara and Pehli Teacher-Maa. The sessions also cover community participation, assessment, mentoring, monitoring and preparation of future action plans.

Deputy Director Elementary Education and District Project Officer, Kullu, Gyan Chand, and Principal, DIET Kullu, Satish Jaspa, participated in the inaugural session. Kuldeep, Keval, Jagriti and Purushottam from Pratham Education Foundation served as resource persons.

Speaking to the media, Gyan Chand said the workshop would benefit children as the participating officers would take the learning from the programme to their respective blocks and extend its benefits to students.

Satish Jaspa said the workshop aimed to train the BEEOs from six districts so they could share the information in their respective blocks and help increase the number of children in schools.
