In a significant setback for Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the Karnataka High Court has dismissed his petition challenging Governor Thawarchand Gehlot’s sanction for his prosecution in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam case. The Chief Minister is under investigation for allegedly facilitating the illegal allotment of 14 sites in prime Mysuru locations to his wife, according to news outlet The Hindustan Times.

The ruling, delivered by Justice M. Nagaprasanna at noon, affirmed that the Governor’s order of sanction for prosecution “does not suffer from non-application of mind.” This verdict follows an interim order from the High Court on August 19, which had temporarily relieved the Chief Minister by instructing a special court in Bengaluru to halt any further action regarding the prosecution sanction, the news outlet further said.

According to news outlet India Today, following the Karnataka High Court’s dismissal of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s petition, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for his resignation. The Karnataka unit of the BJP stated in a post on X in Kannada, “The empire of lies built by you has completely collapsed; now respectfully resign from the post of Chief Minister.”
