RWAs Urge Election Commission to Halt Haryana Stilt-Plus-Four Construction Order

Residents’ welfare associations in Haryana have called on the Election Commission (EC) to suspend a government order allowing stilt-plus-four (S+4) construction in residential areas. The associations have also demanded action against the Director of the Town and Country Planning Department, accusing him of acting under the influence of the caretaker Haryana government,  the news outlet The Tribune reported.

During a meeting in Hisar under the HUDA Sectors Confederation, which represents 287 associations, Yashvir Malik, the president of the group, told The Tribune that, “We have sent an email to the EC, requesting that the removal of the embargo on S+4 construction be put on hold. This notification exceeds the powers of the caretaker government and is clearly an attempt to influence voters,” according to the news outlet. In a letter to the EC, the associations argue that the construction order not only disrupts a level playing field during elections but also reflects the government’s “vested interests.”
