The patient had pre-existing serious lung disease and pneumonia, with doctors saying multiple health complications also contributed to his death.

Bilaspur, August 31

A 64-year-old man, identified as Ramashish Ram, a resident of Sai Dobha in Bilaspur Sadar, died during treatment on August 30 after testing positive for H1N1 (swine flu).

Ram was admitted to the hospital on August 13 and tested positive for H1N1 on August 29. According to medical records, he was suffering from serious respiratory conditions, including Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) and lower lobe pneumonia, besides other health complications.

His condition remained critical despite treatment, and he died at around 6:46 am on August 30.

Doctors said the death should not be attributed solely to H1N1, as his pre-existing serious lung disease, pneumonia, and other complications were also significant factors.

Authorities have advised people experiencing symptoms such as high fever, cough, sore throat, or breathing difficulty to seek timely medical attention. Elderly people and those with pre-existing illnesses have been urged to take extra precautions.
