Dharamshala, July 6
The demand for justice in the death of Akshay Koda, who lost his life in a road accident in Dharamshala, gained momentum on Monday as family members, friends and local residents organized a candle march to pay tribute and press for a fair investigation into the incident.
Participants in the march urged the administration to ensure an impartial probe and take strict action against those found responsible. The peaceful march was held to honor Akshay’s memory and draw attention to the seriousness of the case.
Akshay’s brother, Shivek Koda, said the family had been assured by the administration and concerned authorities that a fair investigation would be conducted. He expressed hope that justice would be delivered and said the march was aimed at ensuring the matter remained a priority for the authorities. Shivek alleged that complaints about the condition of the road where the accident occurred had been raised, but the relevant department failed to carry out the necessary repairs and safety measures in a timely manner. He demanded that the departmental inquiry be completed at the earliest and that accountability be fixed to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
The family has also submitted a memorandum to the district administration. Officials have assured them of a transparent investigation. Family members said their primary concern is strict action against negligence related to road safety, stressing that while roads can be rebuilt, a family can never bring back a loved one lost in such circumstances.
