Shimla, July 6

The Himachal Pradesh Congress has intensified its preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections by focusing on strengthening the party organization. A two-day strategy meeting held in Shimla concluded with several key decisions, with Himachal Congress in charge Rajni Patil saying that nearly 85 percent of office bearers participated in the discussions.
Addressing the media after the meetings, Patil said a “Connect Centre” has been established at Rajiv Bhawan, which will report directly to the All India Congress Committee. The centre will serve as a communication link to keep party workers informed about organizational activities and programmes initiated by the party leadership. She announced that the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting will be held in Dharamshala on July 16 and 17, where the Congress General Secretary (Organization) will also be present. The meeting is expected to address key organizational and governance issues.
Patil said each state minister will be assigned responsibility for one district. Ministers will visit their respective districts to hear public grievances, work towards resolving local issues and ensure that government schemes and welfare programmes reach the people effectively. She also said the party will conduct review meetings every three months to assess organizational and government performance.
Reacting to the Ram Temple donation controversy, Patil described it as a serious matter that deserves a thorough investigation. On the ongoing differences between a state minister and a Congress leader, she said the party would make efforts to resolve all internal issues. Referring to minister Jagat Singh Negi’s absence from the meeting, Patil said the party would hold discussions with him to restore normalcy.
Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh Congress president Vinay Kumar said the party would continue its nationwide campaign over the alleged leak of the NEET examination paper. Targeting the BJP, he said the silence of the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister over the Ram Temple donation controversy had raised several questions. Himachal Youth Congress president Chhatar Singh said the Sukhu government was working to create employment opportunities for young people. He also reiterated the demand for the restoration of college student union elections, saying the issue would be strongly raised before the state government.
