Shimla, July 6

Moderate to heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Himachal Pradesh overnight, triggering flash floods and disrupting road connectivity in Chamba and Kullu districts, officials said on Monday. The downpour blocked key roads in both districts, while the India Meteorological Department forecast more heavy rainfall in several parts of the state.
Officials said the Chamba-Tissa road has been blocked after a flash flood at Pangola Nala in the Churah subdivision of Chamba district. Traffic movement was also disrupted at Pagal Nala on the Larji Sainj road in Kullu district due to flooding. Rainfall data released by officials showed that Jogindernagar in Mandi district recorded the highest rainfall at 97 mm during the period. Kangra received 74.8 mm of rain, followed by Palampur with 35.4 mm, Bharwain with 34 mm, Sarahan with 32.5 mm, Rohru with 30 mm, and Dharamshala with 27.2 mm.
The India Meteorological Department has forecast isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in Kangra, Una and Sirmaur districts on Monday. Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely in Chamba, Mandi and Shimla districts. Authorities are monitoring the weather situation and have advised people to remain cautious, particularly in areas vulnerable to flash floods and rain-related disruptions, as more rainfall is expected across parts of the state.
