Chandigarh, June 11
Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh on Thursday announced an ex-gratia grant of Rs 2 lakh each for the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the massive fire that broke out in Rohtak’s D-Park market area earlier this week.
The fire, which erupted on June 9 in one of Rohtak’s busiest commercial areas, claimed three lives and caused significant damage to several shops and establishments. A few people were also injured in the incident.
Expressing grief over the tragedy, the Governor conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for peace for the departed souls. He also wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the blaze.
According to an official statement, Governor Ghosh directed the district administration to ensure that all injured persons receive proper, free medical treatment at government hospitals.
He further instructed the Rohtak Deputy Commissioner to conduct a detailed assessment of the losses caused by the fire and submit a report to the government at the earliest. The Governor stressed the need for prompt assistance and support to all those affected by the incident.
Earlier on Wednesday, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini had announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh each for the families of the deceased. The Chief Minister had also announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh for the injured persons.
Officials said the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
