Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday handed appointment letters to 355 newly recruited candidates, taking the total number of government jobs provided by his administration to more than 67,000 since it came to power.

Addressing the gathering, Mann said the state had adopted a recruitment process based on merit and transparency, arguing that government jobs were now being awarded without political influence, recommendations or corruption.

The new recruits have been appointed across several departments, including technical education, local government, public works, animal husbandry, water supply and sanitation.

The chief minister contrasted Punjab’s recruitment record with concerns raised nationally over examination paper leaks. He said no paper leak incidents had been reported in Punjab since 2022 and described this as evidence of a transparent system.

Mann also highlighted the government’s broader efforts to create opportunities for young people within the state. He pointed to investments in skill development, the construction of new Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), upgrades to existing institutions and the expansion of specialised education programmes.

The chief minister said the government was working to create conditions that would encourage young Punjabis to build their futures at home rather than seek opportunities elsewhere. He also referred to the state’s decision to provide a pathway for the regularisation of around 65,000 contractual employees.

During the event, Mann said Punjab had witnessed significant changes in the education sector, citing improvements in government schools, teacher training programmes and the establishment of Schools of Eminence in the state.
