Himachal Pradesh BJP State President Dr. Rajiv Bindal on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, accusing him of insulting thousands of elected public representatives and millions of voters. Condemning the Chief Minister’s recent remarks regarding Zila Parishad and Block Development Council (BDC) members, Dr. Bindal termed the statement unfortunate, unconstitutional, and an assault on the dignity of local self-governance that is akin to the murder of democracy.

The BJP leader emphasized that grassroots representatives, including Zila Parishad and BDC members, are chosen through a rigorous democratic process and carry the mandate of the people. Pointing out that a single Zila Parishad member represents the trust of 20,000 to 25,000 voters, Dr. Bindal stated that dismissing their relevance by saying they matter only for a single day is a direct insult to the public. He alleged that this statement has exposed the true mindset of the Congress party, which has historically undermined and neglected rural leadership.

Dr. Bindal claimed that the Chief Minister’s controversial remarks stem from deep frustration over the ruling party’s recent electoral setbacks. He noted that the public has outrightly rejected the Congress government across municipal corporations, municipal councils, Zila Parishads, and panchayats due to its unfulfilled promises, administrative failures, and anti-people policies. Instead of accepting this crushing defeat with humility, Dr. Bindal argued, the Chief Minister is now venting his frustration on voters and their elected representatives.

Further escalating his attack, the BJP State President accused the Congress government of operating with a mindset of political vendetta following its election losses. He alleged that on the very day the election results were declared, the state government retaliated against the public by fast-tracking the closure of educational institutions. Dr. Bindal pointed out that locking schools and colleges in Sirmour and other regions is a direct attempt to punish citizens for their political choices, describing it as malice rather than democratic governance.

Demanding an immediate and unconditional apology from Chief Minister Sukhu, Dr. Bindal asserted that the humiliation of thousands of local representatives and millions of voters will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Warning the ruling government of future political consequences, he stated that the public is closely monitoring these actions and will deliver a fitting reply through democratic means. He concluded by reiterating that the BJP will continue to hit the streets to safeguard the dignity of public representatives and relentlessly expose the anti-democratic face of the current regime.
