Chandigarh, June 1 Five judges, including Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Sheel Nagu, have been appointed as judges of the Supreme Court of India, according to notifications issued by the Union Law Ministry on Monday. The newly appointed Supreme Court judges are Venkita Subramani Mohana, Bombay High Court Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar, Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Sheel Nagu, Madhya Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, and Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court Chief Justice Arun Palli.
The appointments were notified by the Ministry of Law and Justice on Monday morning, marking a significant expansion of the country’s top judiciary.
Following Justice Sheel Nagu’s elevation, the President has appointed Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra to perform the duties of Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court under Article 223 of the Constitution of India.
Justice Mishra, currently a judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, will discharge the responsibilities of the Chief Justice until further orders.
