Chandigarh, May 25
Punjab is aiming to complete 90 per cent pre mapping of voters before the Special Intensive Revision begins, the Chief Electoral Officer of the state, Anindita Mitra, said on Monday.
She said that so far more than 84 per cent of voters in Punjab have already been successfully mapped during the pre SIR exercise. The process is being carried out as part of preparations for the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
According to her, the voter list prepared during the 2003 Special Intensive Revision is being used as the base document for matching with current electoral records. Officials are using this to verify and update voter details across the state.
Mitra also clarified that voters who are not covered under pre mapping will still be included in the process. She said such voters will need to fill the enumeration form provided by Booth Level Officers and submit it for inclusion in the draft electoral roll.
She appealed to the people of Punjab to actively participate in the exercise and extend full cooperation to Booth Level Officers to ensure accurate and updated voter lists.
