Kalka, May 19
A major fire broke out at Vishnu Tent House in the Kalka grain market, reducing all goods inside the shop to ashes and causing an estimated loss of Rs 10–15 lakh. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
According to reports, workers sleeping inside the shop sensed intense heat and discovered the fire before escaping safely. The shop owner immediately informed the police and fire officials. Two fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and brought the blaze under control after strenuous efforts.
Officials said nearly eight to ten gas cylinders were kept inside the shop, including several filled cylinders. Fire personnel safely removed them in time, preventing a potentially bigger disaster.
