Interacting with trade and industry leaders from Barnala and Sangrur districts, Sukhbir Badal on Thursday outlined commitments concerning traders, shopkeepers, investors and entrepreneurs ahead of the next government.
During the interaction, Badal said the discussions provided an opportunity to understand the problems faced by the business community and receive suggestions for the party’s poll manifesto. Badal also shared the vision for the next government.
Emphasising the need to increase the state’s income, Sukhbir Badal said the focus should be on encouraging investors and entrepreneurs rather than imposing hefty taxes.
Badal promised to reintroduce the self-declaration system and relaunch the Rahat scheme, under which shopkeepers would pay a lump-sum tax and be freed from Inspector Raj.
Sukhbir Badal also promised greater freedom for traders and an environment that would allow businesses to grow.
On the issue of industrial development, Badal said cheaper and uninterrupted power supply would be ensured for shops and industry.
The leader further said efforts would be made to make the state free from gangsters.
The commitments were shared during an exchange of ideas with trade and industry representatives from the two districts. Their suggestions and concerns, Badal said, would contribute to the party’s poll manifesto.
