Principal Media Advisor to Chief Minister, Naresh Chauhan, on Thursday accused the BJP of imposing candidates in the Panchayati Raj elections and claimed that the Congress respects the wishes of the people rather than imposing leadership choices on them. Addressing reporters in Shimla, Chauhan launched a sharp attack on the BJP, saying that victory could not be secured merely through claims and that the actual picture would become clear once the election results were announced.

He alleged that in Hamirpur, the BJP altered its list for the Zila Parishad elections, forcing three leaders to contest as independent candidates. Chauhan said the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led government was delivering strong governance despite facing financial challenges. He added that the state government’s reforms were designed to strengthen the rural economy and promote development. schools under the CBSE pattern. Questioning the credibility of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Chauhan claimed that people across the country had doubts about the system and alleged irregularities in the election results of five states. Referring to West Bengal, he also questioned the deployment of a large number of central security forces during elections, comparing it with the deployment of around 50,000 American troops during wartime operations.

Chauhan further targeted Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, alleging that the Center had failed to provide adequate assistance to Himachal Pradesh for disaster relief and RDG restoration. Despite this, he said, the state government continued to work for public welfare.

He asserted that people had faith in the Sukhu government and said the Congress would go to the public, highlighting the government’s achievements during its three-and-a-half-year tenure.
