As rising temperatures grip the plains, tourists are increasingly heading to the hills of Himachal Pradesh, with Manali emerging as one of the most preferred destinations for relief from the scorching summer heat.

Despite the arrival of May, Manali continues to experience unusually cold weather, giving visitors the feeling of an early winter rather than the beginning of summer. The hill station is experiencing temperatures similar to those usually seen in November and December, while light snowfall has also been reported on the higher mountain peaks.

The pleasant climate has led to a surge in tourism, with the famous Mall Road in Manali bustling with visitors enjoying the cool weather. Many tourists including Avkash Jadav, Supati arriving from various parts of the country said the weather in Manali has come as a pleasant surprise, especially at a time when cities such as Mumbai are facing intense heatwave conditions.

Visitors shared that they had not expected such cold weather during May and expressed happiness over getting relief from the harsh temperatures prevailing in the plains. They also described Manali’s weather as highly unpredictable, with sudden rainfall followed by bright sunshine, which adds to the destination’s charm.

Local resident Balakrishna Sharma said the weather has remained consistently cool and enjoyable over the past several days, attracting a large number of tourists. He noted that while temperatures generally begin to rise during May, this year the cold conditions are still continuing, forcing residents and visitors alike to rely on sweaters and jackets.
