The Punjab Punjab Director General of Police( DGP) has accused Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), of being behind two explosions reported in Jalandhar and Amritsar within hours of each other late on Tuesday night. Addressing a press conference in Amritsar, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said investigators suspect the blasts were carried out around the anniversary of “Operation Sindoor”, which he described as a possible motive behind the incidents.

He said Punjab Police were investigating the matter and coordinating with multiple intelligence and security agencies to gather evidence and determine those responsible.

The first explosion took place outside the headquarters of the Border Security Force’s Punjab Frontier in Jalandhar at around 8pm, police said. A second blast was reported nearly three hours later in the Khasa area of Amritsar, near an army cantonment.

No injuries were reported in either incident.

Senior Superintendent of Police Suhail Mir Qasim said police teams rushed to the Amritsar site after residents heard a loud explosion. Preliminary findings suggest that an unidentified person may have hurled an object towards a boundary wall, triggering the blast.

Forensic experts and bomb disposal teams later inspected the area and collected samples for examination. Officials have not yet confirmed the type of explosive used.

Superintendent of Police Aditya S Warrier said investigations were continuing to identify those involved. Army officials also visited the site as part of the security response.

Following the incidents, security measures have been strengthened in several parts of Punjab as agencies continue their investigation.
