Manoj Sinha launches drug-free J and K campaign, warns strict action on traffickers

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday launched a ‘drug-free J and K campaign’ in Reasi, urging coordinated efforts to curb drug abuse and warning that those involved in trafficking will face strict legal action.

Addressing the gathering, Sinha called upon authorities to strengthen monitoring around schools, colleges, and other vulnerable areas. He stressed the need for vigilance to prevent the spread of drugs among youth.

He said drug abuse is damaging society and requires a collective response from institutions, communities, and individuals. Emphasizing strict enforcement, he warned that those involved in drug trafficking would face the harshest consequences under the law.

Sinha also highlighted the growing public participation in the campaign, noting that several community groups have come forward in recent days to support the initiative. He said the movement aims to build awareness and encourage open discussion to tackle the issue at its roots.

The Lieutenant Governor underlined the role of social organizations, educators, and community leaders in strengthening the campaign. He also noted that women’s groups are actively contributing to the effort, particularly at the grassroots level.

With the campaign gaining momentum, authorities expect wider public participation in the coming days as the administration intensifies efforts to curb drug abuse and protect youth across the region.
