Punjab Kings secured a strong 54-run win over Lucknow Super Giants in their IPL match at Mullanpur on Sunday. Priyansh Arya led the way with a quick 93 from 37 balls, and Cooper Connolly contributed 87 from 45. Together, they put on a 182-run partnership that helped Punjab reach 254 for 7 in 20 overs. Lucknow struggled to keep up, with Rishabh Pant scoring 43 and Mitchell Marsh adding 40, but Punjab’s bowlers kept the pressure on throughout the chase.

Vyshak Vijaykumar bowled well, taking one wicket for 30 runs in four overs. Prince Yadav was the standout for Lucknow, picking up two wickets for 25 runs. Yadav’s steady bowling was a rare positive for Lucknow, as the rest of their bowlers gave away too many runs. Punjab’s strong batting, especially Priyansh’s aggressive shots, made it tough for Lucknow’s bowlers to keep control.

Priyansh’s performance showed why he is becoming one of India’s top T20 players. His bold batting, along with Connolly’s powerful hitting, helped Punjab post an unbeatable total. Observers said, “It felt like a regular job for him,” as Arya hit boundaries easily and showed the confidence he’s had since his debut.

For Lucknow, captain Pant’s choice not to review an early appeal against Connolly turned out to be a mistake, and mistakes in the middle overs let Punjab take control. Owner Sanjiv Goenka looked relieved when Priyansh missed out on a century, but by that point, Punjab had already done enough to win.

Punjab’s big win boosts their hopes of doing better than last year’s second-place finish, with Priyansh Arya’s good form now a key part of their campaign. Lucknow will need to recover quickly and fix their bowling problems before their next match.
