In a decisive effort to bolster safety across the Kashmir Valley, Inspector General of Police V K Birdi held a key security review meeting focused on tourist destinations and sensitive areas. The meeting brought together senior officials from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force, and other security agencies.

As tourism is expected to rise with upcoming events, Birdi stressed the need for tighter security across popular locations. He called for coordinated efforts among agencies to ensure a safe environment for both visitors and residents.

Highlighting the likelihood of increased traffic in Srinagar, he emphasised the importance of effective traffic management to reduce congestion and minimise inconvenience to the public.

The IGP also reviewed preparations for the Hajj pilgrimage and underscored the need for enhanced security and proper facilitation for pilgrims at all designated points.

In addition, Birdi called for increased surveillance along inter-district boundaries and directed officers to maintain strict vigilance on social media platforms to curb misinformation that could impact public safety.

The measures reflect the administration’s focus on strengthening security and ensuring a safe and orderly environment in Kashmir ahead of major events.
