US President Donald Trump has invited India to join a new international initiative aimed at resolving global conflicts, beginning with the war in Gaza. Trump wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing the proposal as a “historic” effort to bring lasting peace to the Middle East while developing a broader framework for addressing international disputes.
The US president said the initiative was based on a Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, which he announced in September last year. According to the letter, the plan includes a 20-point roadmap and has received backing from leaders across the Arab world, Israel and Europe.
Trump also noted that the United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 2803 in November, endorsing the proposal.
At the centre of the plan is the creation of a new body, known as the Board of Peace, which would function as an international organisation and transitional governing administration.
The initiative, Mr Trump said, would bring together a group of nations willing to take responsibility for building what he described as “lasting peace” and a secure future. He added that a meeting of participating world leaders would be held in the near future.
