The Punjab Police have seized nearly 20 kilograms of heroin and arrested four people in what they describe as a major crackdown on cross-border drug smuggling. The haul was made by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Punjab Police in a joint operation with the Border Security Force in the Border Range area. Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the operation led to the recovery of 19.980kg of heroin and the arrest of four accused, including a key operative allegedly responsible for managing the supply chain.
In a post on X, Yadav said preliminary investigations suggested the main accused was in contact with handlers based in Pakistan and was coordinating the delivery and distribution of drug consignments across the region. An FIR has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police said further investigations were under way to identify cross-border handlers, trace supply routes and dismantle the wider smuggling network.
