Punjab Police have recovered more than 12kg of suspected heroin near the India–Pakistan border following intelligence inputs about drone movement on Tuesday. Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the recovery was made by the Punjab Police Border Range team in coordination with the Border Security Force near Dalleke village in Lopoke police station area of Amritsar district. “The recovered contraband weighs approximately 12.050kg. A case is being registered and a preliminary investigation is under way to trace both backward and forward linkages using technical evidence and human intelligence,” Yadav said.
He added that Punjab Police remained firmly committed to countering drone-based narco-smuggling and dismantling drug trafficking networks operating across the border belt. The recovery is part of intensified surveillance and coordinated operations aimed at curbing cross-border narcotics smuggling in the region.
