Panic spread across Amritsar on Friday morning after several private schools received bomb threats through email, prompting an immediate response from city police. Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said in a video statement that teams were rushed to the schools soon after the alerts were reported. “We immediately visited the schools and nothing was found. The threat was found to be fake,” he said.
Bhullar added that central agencies had been involved in the investigation to identify those responsible for sending the emails. “We are working to trace the people behind this,” he said.
