Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday presented a Russian translation of the Bhagavad Gita to President Vladimir Putin, calling the sacred book a source of inspiration “for millions across the world”.
In a message on X, Modi said he had handed over the copy during their meeting in New Delhi. The gesture came a day after the Prime Minister personally received the Russian leader on his arrival, describing him as a “friend” and reaffirming the long-standing ties between the two countries.
Modi wrote that he was “delighted to welcome President Putin to India” and looked forward to their discussions. He also noted that he had hosted the Russian President at his official residence, 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, ahead of formal talks scheduled for Friday. The visit forms part of the annual India–Russia summit, where defence, energy and geopolitical issues are expected to dominate the agenda.
