Army chief warns Pakistan: Operation Sindoor was just a trailer

Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Monday delivered a sharp warning to Pakistan, urging it to “learn to behave responsibly with its neighbour” as he described Operation Sindoor as “just a trailer” that wrapped up within 88 hours. Speaking at the Chanakya Defence Dialogue, he said India would not hesitate to respond if confronted with state-backed terrorist activity. “When a country encourages state-sponsored terrorism, it becomes a matter of concern for India,” he added.

General Dwivedi said India sought progress and stability, but would respond firmly to any obstruction. “If someone creates obstacles in our course, then we will have to take some action against them. Talks and terror can’t go together.” He described modern warfare as “multi-domain”, adding that no one could predict the duration of future conflicts. “We have to ensure we have supplies to last long,” he said.

The Army Chief said India remained prepared for any future contingency and would treat “terrorists and their sponsors alike”. He added that India was “so accomplished today that it is not scared of any blackmail attempts”.
