Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday praised Home Minister Amit Shah’s address in Parliament, calling it a “remarkable speech” that laid out crucial details about recent counter-terror operations. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Mr Modi said, “In his remarkable speech in the Lok Sabha, Home Minister Amit Shah Ji gives important details about Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev, which have played a vital role in eliminating cowardly terrorists.”
Prime Minister Modi further said the speech underlined the government’s commitment to national security. “His address also focuses on our Government’s efforts towards keeping our nation secure,” he wrote.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Amit Shah revealed that three terrorists responsible for the recent deadly attack in Pahalgam — including the a mastermind — were killed in a joint security operation, codenamed Operation Mahadev.
He named the terrorists as Suleiman, also known as Musa; Jibran; and Abu Hamza, who was also known by the alias Afghan. “Two of them were from Pakistan,” the Home Minister told the House. The encounter reportedly took place on Monday in the Harwan area near Srinagar, where security forces launched an operation based on intelligence inputs.
The government has said both Operation Mahadev and Operation Sindoor were significant in dismantling cross-border terrorist networks operating in Jammu and Kashmir.
