External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar will embark four-days visit to the US to participate in the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (QFMM) and to inaugurate a UN exhibition on terrorism today. The Quad meeting, scheduled for July 1, will see the foreign ministers of India, the United States, Japan, and Australia discussing regional and global developments with a focus on the Indo-Pacific. The leaders are expected to review progress on key Quad initiatives and explore new proposals to advance the group’s shared vision of a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific. The meeting will build on discussions from the previous QFMM held in Washington DC on 21 January 2025. It also serves as a lead-up to the upcoming Quad Leaders’ Summit, which India will host.

At the invitation of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Jaishankar will also attend high-level consultations with American officials and counterparts from other Quad nations.  In a significant gesture, the minister will inaugurate an exhibition titled “The Human Cost of Terrorism” at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on June 30. The exhibit aims to highlight the global human toll of terrorism and the international community’s response to combat such threats.
