India and the UK have resumed negotiations on a free trade agreement, following talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his British counterpart, Keir Starmer, on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro last November. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and UK Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds announced the development in Delhi, highlighting the countries’ long-standing economic ties. Both sides aim for a “balanced, mutually beneficial” deal that fosters economic growth.
The leaders have instructed negotiators to resolve outstanding issues, paving the way for an agreement that could benefit businesses and consumers in both nations.
