India’s Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh met with UK and Italian officials on the sidelines of Aero India 2025 in Bengaluru to discuss expanding bilateral defence cooperation, including industrial collaboration and maritime security.
Singh met with Lord Vernon Coaker, Minister for the House of Lords, where both sides reviewed existing defence ties and ongoing projects, particularly in electric propulsion and aero engines. Earlier, Singh co-chaired a UK-India Business Council roundtable alongside Coaker and British High Commissioner Lindy Cameron. The session focused on joint defence projects, with participation from UK defence firms and Indian industry representatives from the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers.
In a separate meeting, Singh met Italy’s Under Secretary of State for Defence Matteo Perego Di Cremnago. Discussions centered on increasing defence cooperation through expanded maritime and air exchanges and joint industry initiatives. Aero India 2025 serves as a platform for India to advance its “Make in India” initiative and deepen strategic ties with global partners.
