India has fenced 3,232.2 km of its 4,096.7 km border with Bangladesh as part of security measures to curb cross-border crimes, smuggling, and human trafficking, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said on Monday. Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, in a written reply to the Lok Sabha, said India has informed Bangladesh that all border security measures, including fencing, comply with bilateral agreements and protocols.

“A total of 864.5 km remains unfenced, including 174.5 km of non-feasible stretches due to land acquisition issues, objections from Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and difficult terrain,” Rai said.
